Romania and Bulgaria are the 26th and 27th members of the EU, which began with 6 members. With Romania's 21.5 million citizens and Bulgaria's 7.6 million people it brings the population of the EU to almost 500 million. Bulgaria's membership in the EU has brought greater economic stability; the expectations of sceptics about crises and disruptions in the different fields did not come true. We have also started benefiting from EU structural and cohesion funds.
